개요
방첩대(CIC, Counter Intelligence Corps)는 미육군의 군사정보기관으로, [USAMGIK]의 정보참모부(G-2) 산하에서 남한의 좌익세력 감시와 반공 활동을 담당했다. 1947년 9월 이후 미소공동위원회 결렬 시점에 CIC는 우익 청년단체 조직 강화에 협력했다. 대동청년단, 서북청년회 등 우익 준군사 조직의 확대를 지원하면서 좌익 감시 기능을 강화했다.

Overview
The Counter Intelligence Corps (CIC) was the U.S. Army’s military intelligence agency operating under USAMGIK’s G-2 (General Staff Intelligence). The Jeju District CIC coordinated with local police and military units to monitor leftist activity, conduct screening of detainees, and collect intelligence.
